Ramnagaram , a tinsel town 50 Km southwest from Bangalore. Ramnagaram is known for granite and more famously for silk. It is the largest market for silk cocoons in Asia. It is the same place where the greatest bollywood movie of all time Sholay was shot.
Ramanagaram situated in a valley surrounded by rocky hillocks is sub-divisional headquarters from 1884. It became a taluk headquarters in 1928, and the place was named Ramanagaram in 1949. It is the biggest cocoon marketing centre now. It is spread on either banks of the Arkavati and the old bridge connecting the town was built by Sir Barry Close, the Resident at the Royal Court of Mysore. Hence, the place was named as Closept, as mentioned in a Persian as well as Kannada record, erected by Diwan Purnaiah in 1800. The township was also founded around the same time for greater security of the high roads, which then passed through a wild forest route.
Day 1: Reach Ranagaram and complete the uphill trek
Start from Bangalore at late evening through non AC comfortable bus and approx. 12 o'clock in the night reach ramnagaram. After half an hour of briefing and preparation start your trek to ramnagaram summit. It will take approx. 2 hours to reach the top. The night view of the adjascent sleepy town is beautiful. Explore the surrounding areas and then prepare Bonfire (Depends upon weather).
Day 2: Start descending to Ramnagaram base and journey back to Bangalore
After watching splendid view of early morning sunrise start your trek back to Ramnagaram base an by 7 AM you can start your rappelling session. Once it is over have your breakfast and start your return journey to Bangalore
