We will leave for Kalasa in Chikmagalur and from there to Shamse.There will be a 6km offroading which will be mesmerizing and thrilling to reach Mullodi.Then homestay at Kudremukh is located there. We will start the journey for Kudremukh National Park which is 300 kms from Bangalore. We will have an ice breaker session and introduction to the team members and trekking guides. We will start for the trekking trail of Kudremukh peak.
Day-1:Trekking to Kudremukh peak
We will reach the beautiful villages of Karnataka and the route from Chikmagalur towards the Kudremukh National Park which is the most scenic road while travelling to Kudremukh peak trek. Known as the second largest national park, Kudremukh National Park offers a great range of flora and fauna for the trekkers and tourists. The Kudremukh trek permission needs to be taken and then we will move from Balegal to Mullodi which is the base camp. The road is a suitable road for offroading by jeep which is a 45 minutes drive. The route covered by jeep is covered by coffee estates and waterfalls which increases the thrill of the journey.
The base camp has a mesmerizing view of the peaks of the Kudremukh National Park (KNP).You can also see the Somavati River which is the source of the purest water in the state. After reaching there in the morning we will have authentic and amazing breakfast and then we will get packed lunch for the trek. We can also have freshly grounded coffee while on the jeep ride and then we will start for the kudremukh peak located at a distance of 11 km.The best time for Kudremukh trekking is in the morning.
The Kudremukh trekking trail will pass through lush green rain forests and then we will start the climb passing several water streams on the way.
The streams will be flooded during the monsoon and then we will begin our Chikmagalur trekking expedition. The left side peak of the Kudremukh trek trail is known as Durgadabba and the right hand peak is the Kumbadokano.The peak represents a cow face which is the Gomukh peak and can be seen during the trekking trail of Kudremukh. The forest area will be covered and we will see the peace tree which is a place where we get a bird's eye view of the surrounding beauty.
The whole trek will pass through the lush green meadows and rainforests. The fresh water streams can be used for the refilling the water bottles which will help us in the Kudremukh trekking trail. After we will see a place known as the Lobo House which is the starting point of the ascent and then we will come across mango trees and the rise of the terrain. We will come across the beautiful meadows while the Kudremukh national park continues to show us the beauty.
The Kudremukh peak which represents the face of the horse is visible and the trail will lead to the peak. We will move through dark lush green forests and move our way through thorny bushes. Some wild animals can be encountered and we will see the 30 feet waterfall near the Kudremukh peak.
Kudremukh peak trek is one of the best Chikmagalur trekking spots. You will see the beauty nature at its purest form in the Kudremukh National Park. The valley comprises of rainforests and mountains which leads to a steep trail to the Kudremukh peak.
The Kudremukh waterfalls is located opposite the peak and the gradient increases while climbing. The right will be a dense forests and the left will be a cliff. The forest department does not permit to stay in the Kudremukh peak so we will coming down for our authentic Chikmagalur home stay for dinner and campfire.
Day-2:Return from Kudremukh National Park and come back to Bangalore
We will start for Bangalore early morning after having breakfast at the Chikmagalur homestay.We will visit the Somavati river and then see the Bhadra river. We will explore the coffee farms as we come from our Chikmagalur trekking expedition and our trek to Kudremukh peak will remain a great weekend adventure. We will then return to Bangalore.
