Trip Highlights for Night Trek to Skandagiri

Skandagiri is a hill fortress that was built from the regional palegars and further improved by Tippu Sultan. Much of the fortifications still remain undamaged. Due to the illegal activities and acts which have taken place here, the forest management is strictly banned hiking at Skandagiri. Long ago, when Skandagiri was just gaining popularity, we were lucky for with a chance to trek. One day, we acted on our spontaneous decision of investigating Skandagiri to see a beautiful sunrise the next morning. Back then, witnessing the crowds present there and their unruly behaviour, it appeared as a disaster waiting to happen. It's worthwhile to remember that Skandagiri falls beneath the reserved forest area and all entrance that is prohibited can lead to a serious punishment. Measures like restricting the number of individuals allowed to trek in a time, accompaniment of educated and certified guides, well researched roads, complete ban on smoking and alcohol consumption with rigorous enforcement, teaching the locals about the significance of this hill reserve, setting up an organization for its development involving different hiking clubs, character conservative nightclubs, forest department, local villagers and others have to be undertaken to make sure that the picturesque Skandagiri is nicely maintained and serves to be a sustainable tourist place, only to ensure that these areas are stored for our future generations. It lies within us to be a responsible trekker.
