About Mcleodganj Triund Trek:

DAY 01- Mcleodganj trekking triund

 Mcleodganj/ Dharamkot - Triund (2875m) Trek/9 kms

The trek goes through mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar tress. The start of 2 kilometer is a steep ascent but there's a gradual ascent after Galu Devi Temple. The last 1 kilometer is a steep ascent throughout the forest. Triund is a level meadow on top of a ridge. From here panoramic view of Dhauladhar range on one side and Kangra valley on other is a memorable sight. Overnight stay at tents  at Triund.

DAY 2- Mcleodganj trekking Triund

Triund -- Mcleodganj / Dharamkot (2875m) Trek/9 kms

After Breakfast we follow the same route along the way back or if time and weather allow, prepare to research some off-beat avenues where one can encounter fascinating Himalayan fauna and wildlife & going over a grassy meadow and descend down to Bhagsu Nag and after that to Dharamkot / Mcleodganj

Triund trek best time

The summers in Mcleod ganj extends from March to June where the temperature variation is recorded will be between 23°c and 27°c. The temperature sometimes reaches up to 38°c but never goes beyond that. In the winters the temperature can drop to -1° and the maximum temperature hardly goes up to 20°c.

 How to reach Mcleodganj/How to reach Triund

From Dharamshala bus rack, you may take a bus to McLeodganj (Bus fare is INR 12) or shared taxi cab (fare is INR 15) or book a taxi cab (May cost INR 450) to achieve McLeodganj.

For travel to Mcleod ganj and back one can choose between air, rail & road. For air travel, the closest airport is the Gaggal DHM, also known as Kangra Airport, or Dharamshala Airport and is well connected to Delhi and other parts of the country by Spice Jet and Air India.

There are frequent Public Transport buses including Volvos available from Delhi to Mcleodganj that cost about Rs. 550 - 900 per person. These buses depart from Majnu ka tilla every 30 mins. or so and take about 12 hrs to cover the distance. The same is also applicable on the return journey. A private vehicle could also be arranged for if you require the same.

Start your trek from the Main Square in McLeodganj and take a steep and rigid up walk to your left-hand and walk for about frothy five minutes via the Office of Regional Mountaineering Centre, Dharamshala. Turn towards your left from a three-way intersection to achieve Dharamkot. You may also take a rickshaw or a taxi here (INR 60 and INR 300) to be dropped off at Dharamkot primary school. From the left side of the faculty, there's a path of which will take about a hour throughout the forests to achieve the Gallu Devi Temple.

Located in the hands of Dhauladhar mountains, Triund is a base camp with a great view of Dhauladhar mountains on one side and Kangra valley on the other.

There are cafeterias and guest houses here. Rest for some time as the trek from here to Triund is a bit tough with a couple tight curves. It can take about 3 to 4 hours to reach the top of Triund Hill.

The road goes through a beautiful mixed forest of oak, deodar and rhododendron. The trek is easy and may be done by all age groups particularly for the initial five kilometre. The last one kilometre is tiring. There are various shops that offer refreshments on the road.

Any time of the year except January- Feb due to heavy snow.
